A quantum career that shapes the future

Build your quantum career in Finland

Finland is a global quantum tech hub with top research and ecosystem.

Finland is one of the most attractive global hubs for quantum experts.

With decades of pioneering research, strong public investment, and a thriving innovation ecosystem, Finland offers professionals a unique chance to advance their careers and shape the future.

As an EU and NATO member in Northern Europe, Finland provides geopolitical stability and access to European research networks and funding.

The research environment is built on trust, transparency, and collaboration, offering a welcoming ecosystem for work on quantum algorithms, hardware, and applications. Here you’ll find a welcoming international ecosystem that values your expertise and encourages long-term impact.

Finland is at the forefront of quantum computing, cryogenics, and superconductive technology. The country’s quantum ecosystem also works with silicon-based spin qubits and photonics.

Decades of discovery shaping today’s quantum industry

Finland’s journey in quantum research began in the 1960s with groundbreaking work in low-temperature physics. Today, this legacy continues through institutions like VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and Finnish universities,  which are at the forefront of quantum computing, cryogenics, and superconductivity.

Finnish companies such as IQM and Bluefors are recognized leaders in quantum hardware, cryogenic systems and scalable quantum processors, forming key parts of the European quantum supply chain. In addition, there are many promising early-phase quantum technology startups in Finland.

Infrastructure powering the next wave of quantum discovery

Finland provides researchers access to cutting-edge infrastructure. The country hosts LUMI, one of Europe’s most powerful supercomputers, integrated with 5- and 50-qubit quantum computers. These support hybrid quantum-classical computing for both academic and industry researchers.

By 2027, Finland aims to reach 300 qubits with a next-generation quantum computer backed by a EUR 70 million investment.

Finland is also building an industry-driven piloting and development facility Kvanttinova for microelectronics and quantum technology. It will enable for pre-commercial development and provide pilot line for small-volume manufacturing.

Finland offers quantum minds the perfect place to thrive with world-class support for research and ideas, and a fulfilling life beyond the lab.

A thriving ecosystem for quantum experts and startups

Over 1.500 quantum experts work in Finland, supported by a collaborative ecosystem that includes startups, universities, and public agencies. The Finnish Quantum Flagship project hosted by the InstituteQ unites all Finnish quantum researchers in a coordinated effort.

National funding agency Business Finland funds R&D for applied research and industry through its Quantum Program. The program also helps foreign companies and professionals integrate into the Finnish quantum landscape.
