Meet Finland at Web Summit in Lisbon

Finland and Work in Finland will also be at Web Summit in Lisbon together with the Embassy of Finland, introducing international tech talent to opportunities in Finland and to the combination of innovation and well-being that defines its tech ecosystem. The importance of connecting with international tech talent is reflected in Finland’s broad participation, with the cities of Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Oulu, Tampere, Riihimäki and Vaasa also taking part.

“Finnish society values work-life balance, but this is not about choosing well-being over ambition. We believe employee well-being and high performance can reinforce each other. Finland offers an environment where experts can work on innovations that shape the future without having to choose between an ambitious career and a fulfilling life outside work. You can have both – and that is also good for business,” says Laura Lindeman, Senior Director at Work in Finland.

Innovation that improves people’s lives

In Finland, innovation is valued not only for technological progress, but also for its potential to improve people’s lives and the future of our planet. Since 2004, Technology Academy Finland (TAF) has awarded the €1 million Millennium Technology Prize every two years to an innovation with exceptional potential to improve the quality of life of people and the planet.

The competition invites international talent to explore this approach firsthand, bringing together the Finnish deep tech ecosystem and the Millennium Technology Prize.
